Chrome Extension "Video Downloader Professional" Malware found.
Video Downloader Professional Extension
Like many users, I relied on browser extensions to enhance my online experience. Video Downloader Professional had become my go-to tool for saving videos from various platforms, promising ease of use and a seamless integration with my browser. However, the convenience it offered was about to be overshadowed by a looming threat. For a few days, I have been using this extension which Downloads videos from websites or just collects them in your video list without downloading them. It worked pretty well until I got a Gmail from Google which is telling me that a suspicious device attempted to login.
I totally checked the activity of Google and changed the password of my Google account and I found one of my devices was a suspicious activity which is Windows. I only have one device that contains Windows OS.
I ran the full device scan in my antivirus software of my device and found Malware in the Google Chrome extension folder.
As you can check the ID of the Chrome extension and the Path of the vulnerabilities is the same. This harrowing experience taught me valuable lessons about the risks associated with seemingly harmless browser extensions. It emphasized the importance of vigilance and regular security checks. While convenient, third-party tools can pose significant threats if not scrutinized thoroughly.
My journey from the convenience of Video Downloader Professional to the turmoil of a malware attack was a wake-up call. The digital landscape is fraught with dangers, and users must tread carefully. As we navigate the vast expanses of the internet, let my experience serve as a cautionary tale – a reminder that convenience should never come at the expense of security. Stay vigilant, stay secure.
